Lutsk booth at a fair in Poland turns nicest and sweetest

Lutsk, Ukraine, May 27, 2014 – Lutsk was awarded a diploma for the nicest exhibition booth at the 8th International Fair of Foods and Ecological Products EKOGALA, held in Rzeszów, Poland, from May 23–25, the Lutsk Tourism and Promotion Department reported.

Lutsk at the fair was represented by the Beekeepers Fraternity of the Volyn Land "Royovy Stan", whose product line includes honey, drinkable honey and honey desserts as well as apicultural cosmetic and health products. Making use of the opportunity, the beekeepers also told visitors about Lutsk's historical and cultural heritage and present-day culture, and distributed tourist guides, maps, booklets and other promo materials on Lutsk.

Says Natalia Bunda, head of the department: "In Volyn, people have engaged in beekeeping for two thousand years, if not longer. Note that as recently as 100 years ago in Volyn forests there still existed the primary form of apiculture, that is, beekeeping in natural or artificial tree hollows. One can safely presume that Lithuanian dukes of the Gediminids' Dynasty once savored Volyn honey, and now honey helps us promote Lutsk and Volyn, and the Gediminids' Way project along with them."

Ninety-six companies and organizations from various countries participated in EKOGALA. Ukraine was represented by Lutsk and Lviv only.
